Pros

The company is investing in becoming AI first which is incredibly fun as an engineer. I’m getting access to the latest tools such as Cursor and ChatGPT and am encouraged to learn and grow. We’ve accelerated our SDLC which has been fun to be a part of. We have strong partners in UX and Product and our stand ups are fun and drive urgency at the same time. Top execs are super friendly and sometimes they stop by my desk to hang and learn about the work I’m doing. It’s also cool to build software that makes an impact.

Cons

There are a few people on the team that have been here for 5+ years that have a hard time letting go of past technological decisions.

Pros

Amazing talent on this mission, our teams and colleagues. Our leadership is focused on continually improving engineering methods, how we work, the quality of our managers, and taking care of debt. There’s a very healthy partnership between product and engineering here (very different from other places I have been). We focus on customers and improving our craft continually.

Cons

Processes, our tech, and teams/orgs are different every year…. (I don’t know how you grow and improve without disrupting yourself, so not a complaint so much as a realistic observation).

Pros

It feels like the company is at a great inflection point. Through lots of hard work we've built and assimilated an incredible set of products that help local governments and improve communities. In the past 6 months everything is feeling a little bit easier, and a lot more collaborative. Most rewarding for me is the level of maturity and the quality of the work that we are doing in R&D, and our operation just keeps improving. The work is engaging and I can see how it directly helps our PS and sales teams, and most notably our customers.

Cons

We've seen rapid growth for 12 months with a much more distributed team, and that seems to be continuing now. Our teams and structures keep evolving and changing every 6-9 months. The changes have made a lot of sense, but is still change.
