Pros

Coworkers are incredibly talented and driven Despite rapid growth, the startup culture is still alive Admirable company mission Weekly massages, stocked kitchen, catered lunch on Fridays, dogs at the office, office holiday from Christmas to New Years, and so on Opportunities to grow into more senior roles quickly Rapidly developing software results in a product that is constantly improving

Cons

Long hours and huge workload Incredible amount to learn in a very short period of time during onboarding Mediocre PTO policy, no 401k matching Getting the information you need from people in certain roles can be very challenging Some unhealthy tension between different camps within the company

Great culture, mission, and people

Pros

My role at Opower is the best I've ever had. The fact that the company is driven by a double bottom line makes me feel like I'm working toward something really important that will make an impact on the planet. I'm surrounded by really intelligent people who work hard but also know how to have a good time. Management truly listens to employees and cares about their development and motivation.

Cons

As with any start up (I've now worked at a couple) there are challenges in building brand new processes and procedures. Things that more mature companies have down to a science are often being tested out and tweaked at Opower. But that's also a pro because there's a learning experience that comes along with that.

Pros

Smart, engaging coworkers, competitive salary, lots of perqs, good location (VA), double bottom line is fantastic for those who care, management is engaged and there is an open door policy to chat with them

Cons

None to speak of - long hours come with the territory but aren't a con, they should be expected when one has the desire to work in this space
