Pros

High bar for hiring - everyone I've met while working here is very talented and highly motivated. Fulfilling work - you truly do feel that your work helps make the world a better place. Great company culture and office environment make it an enjoyable experience to come to work every day. Flexible hours.

Cons

Pay/benefits could be better. Career advancement opportunities could be a bit more structured.

Opower: Software With a Purpose

Pros

The people are awesome. Every single employee I have worked with is top notch, never settling for less than the best. The mission is also incredibly motivating. Engineers can build software at many companies, but few offer the satisfaction that your work helps an important cause. In addition, DC is a great place to live.

Cons

There are no obvious cons with Opower. The best one I can think of is a less than fully formed career advancement program. Opower is a small company, so it hasn't established or standardized how to get opportunities to move up in the company. Some departments are more ahead than others in this.
