AVOID THIS COMPANY

Pros

No pros. They bought all these pharmacies with the promise of nothing will change. Everything changed for the worse. Toxic work environments and fearing your pharmacy will be closed on a whim.

Cons

Avoid this company at all cost. There are no incentives to work for them. The CEO abuses employees and has unrealistic quotas for all pharmacies which makes it extremely difficult to reach the goal for a bonus. They know nothing about what it takes to actually run a pharmacy .

Pros

The idea they are going after makes sense

Cons

CEO is out of her depths and grossly incapable of leading a healthy organization No one can bring forth their own ideas - it is always and only what the CEO wants The organization has been grossly mishandled financially The culture is a nightmare with public beratings commonplace Executive Leadership knows nothing about compounding pharmacies

Pros

None - Do not work here. The company is about to go down because of egos.

Cons

This company is a great example of how messed up a company can get. The management team without any pharmacy knowledge is running the pharmacy business. The now CEO and CFO both are absolutely insane, berating, and treat all employees like they are unintelligent, when they themselves do not have any business kills, leadership skills nor innovative ideas on how to problem solve and grow the business. Instead they lie about how great Optio Rx is like everyone around them is stupid and do not understand what they are doing. It has had 2 top management team changes in 3 to 4 years because good honest people will not work here for too long. Unfortunately, all the smart, good people who would do things the right way have left the company in the last 6 months. Do not ruin your career or mental sanity by joining these clowns no matter how much money they are throwing at you. It is temporary way for them to get talent in because they can't keep anyone here. I am SURE you can get a better job flipping burgers at your local mcdonald than to join this company! Don't be a sucker and go after money alone when you evaluate a job offer, at least for this company!

Optio Rx is going down the drain

Pros

Can’t think of any pros to list here. There are none!

Cons

1. Unstable CFO and unqualified new CEO that has zero knowledge on healthcare, safety, compliance, patient privacy and overall pharmacy (what would you expect with having a non-pharmacist run a pharmacy company) 2. The CFO is rude, bullish, and quite frankly, neurotic by how he speaks with people, constantly yells and berates his team publicly, has a very difficult time accepting accountability and responsibility of his teams performance (as a department lead, you’d think this executive would have the emotional intelligence to actually perform like an executive but no. Everything and every finance mistake and error is always someone else’s fault, even when they keep happening). Also doesn’t have a problem talking smack about anyone and everyone. This guy is a loose canon.

Pros

Great upside potential. Company makes money despite themselves. CEO has some good ideas. Most individuals are reasonable and good to work with.

Cons

HIGHLY toxic environment. CEO publicly abuses employees on a whim. Unprofessional and has completely unreasonable expectations. Complains about not being kept in the loop but derides people for sending her emails. Coddles the pharmacists and expects everyone else to compensate for their failings. 100% in office makes it nearly impossible to hire necessary staff and reduces the quality of the talent pool available.

Pros

The pharmacy teams are good and fun people to work with. They care about the patients and not just profits. Good hours.

Cons

Bankruptcy announced today. 3rd CEO change in 6 or 7 years. No women on leadership team now (5 or 6 there a year ago) and only 1 pharmacist on exec team remains. CFO has always been rude. New CEO keeps repeating the same lines about paying your mortgage and having food for your kids and that he is the answer to all the problems because of all his experience. He defines pharmacy as a building that has a license that allows it to sell drugs and if your drug isn't making any money then sell a new drug. Nothing about patient safety, patient care or the power pharmacy staff plays in healthcare. It's only about the $$$$$ and how much him, his team and the lenders will walk away with.

Pros

Prior to April 2022, this was an excellent place to work. Great leadership and culture, and I loved working there.

Cons

In April 2022, investors made the decision to get rid of the CEO, CFO, numerous other Leaders, and half the Accounting team. In my opinion, this was a massive mistake. Since then, attrition has continued at a significant level, due to people leaving for culture-based reasons and additional layoffs. To keep this short, avoid working here. Great leaders were replaced with poor leaders, and the culture reflects that.
