So Far Very Good!

Pros

-Great team and people that support one another. (Large organization. This will vary across teams). -Flexible working hours and work from home. (A new office space is being built in Denver, so this flexibility could change. However, the office space will be some of the nicest and newest in Denver in over 30 years). -Unlimited PTO policy which is on par with the innovative tech companies. -Solid financial backing from VC KKR. This company is being infused with capital for growth and probably and IPO. -The Cybersecurity industry is a very interesting place to be.

Cons

-Work load for services resources can be very high. Work with your managers on this. -Variable/Bonus pay program is always changing and never can be counted on. This skews salary numbers. Make sure you get what you need in your base pay. -Internal business processes are not rolled out well causing issues in many situations. -Career paths are not well defined.

Pros

Optiv is a great match for self-starters: people who know what needs to be done and dive into it. Practice leaders encourage a collaborative climate, where consultants regularly ask each other for help rather than floundering alone. Although there are a lot of subject matter experts, Optiv has somehow garnered experts that have the tact not to come across as know-it-alls.

Cons

Optiv is experiencing the growing pains associated with rapid expansion. Corporate policies, like standardized job role qualifications, are just now coming into being. With such a vertical organization structure (i.e., many managers between individual contributors and the CEO), it is difficult for executives to keep in touch with most employees' day-to-day experience.

Toxic leadership and culture

Pros

There are some solid performers. Good facilities throughout the company.

Cons

Inept and immature leadership throughout the company. Promotions happen at the highest levels only with the exception being "yes men" they put into place. Toxic and backstabbing leaders who can't stay focused for 1 week or agree on what their flavor of the month is. Consistent misses on bonuses. Insanely high medical premiums with lackluster coverage. Constant layoffs due to leadership not being able to forecast or manage appropriately. Turnover is at ridiculous levels with no accountability. Don't bother reaching out to someone in Human Resources more than once because they won't be there. The department can't keep a person longer than a few months. KKR is on prem which I thought would help but to no avail. Culture of Optiv is based on lies, poor leadership and deceit. Parking allowance is being stripped away but hey, you may get to share a seat with key leadership on the rail. Yeah right - don't expect leadership to practice what they preach. Work from home was advertised to attract a lot of us and now fully taken away.
