Pros

-Work from home (while you still can, starting to require majority in office days) -Flexible time off -Semi-flexible work schedule

Cons

-Communication - You better hope you never need another department to work with you on something, or god forbid educate you about something. They don't care why you reached out, they just want you to know it's not their problem. No one cares about the delays they create, they just don't want the "problem" on their plate... No one gets in Optiv's way like Optiv. -Training - Once you have your new-hire on boarding there is no specific training. Oh, you want more info? Here's an email you already have that wasn't helpful the first time. -Management - Management style here is a never ending stream of emails telling you how to do your job with bits of negativity sprinkled in to make sure you know you're replaceable. When you start to see good people quit a company without another job even lined up, you know it's bad. Comradery - There is none. Culture - There is none. Whether it's the intent or not, people can only take so much negativity.

Pros

My coworkers were some of the smartest minds in the industry. I would hire any one of them if given the opportunity.

Cons

As consultants, a good portion of income comes from utilization bonuses. These bonuses at Optiv were paid quarterly and is what made life on the road away from family worth it. At the end of the first quarter of the year, just about when we were to get paid, management send out a new “bonus policy” basically slashing these bonuses to nothing. Had this been done at the beginning of the quarter it wouldn’t have made me so mad, but waiting until we all worked our butts off expecting the bonus we agreed to is just plain wrong. Once the new policy went into effect, the scheduling of engagements changed to get you to miss the bonus altogether. This truly shows that KKR only cares about their own bottom line and not about their employees. They stole nearly $10k from me in the first quarter alone.

Pros

My team at Optiv was first rate. I'd work with the people on my team again in a minute.

Cons

Where to begin. When KKR purchased Optiv from Blackstone the true intent of KKR was revealed. As consultants we were paid a base salary with an increasing bonus scale based upon productivity. My Q1 2017 was stellar. I was expecting the bonus, as promised for my hard work and dedication. Two days prior to paying out our earned bonuses, Senior Management cancelled them. Their excuse: "We've spent too much time and effort on the sale to KKR that we dropped the ball on sales." So.... let me get this straight.... you admit that you cannot manage properly and then make your most productive employees pay the price? I resent Optiv and it's management. In my heart and mind they still owe me $8,000. TL:DR Optiv management is a bunch of liars.
