      Headed Down the Tubes and Trying to Hide It

      Pros

      1. Smart, hard working people at the lower levels

      Cons

      1. Absolute chaos in every direction 2. Nobody knows their role or their goals or any picture of a future at Optiv 3. They do not care about the happiness of their employees 4. They are trying to IPO but will destroy themselves in the process

      Pros

      - Decent pay for senior consultants - Health insurance was decent - Remote work - Some super smart consultants

      Cons

      - Toxic 'we're a family' culture and messaging - Consultant performance/bonuses based on billable utilization, but sales can't fill pipe with enough work - Consistent layoffs over the last 3 years. Layoffs seem random with no consideration about who they're laying off and how that impacts clients / teams - Sales teams and delivery teams have different motivations / compensation structures that conflict with one another, so they are constantly battling each others. - Middle management constantly changed every 6 months and constant re-orgs. - The moral is extremely low, everyone seems unhappy. Lots of people I knew were searching for other opportunities.

      Great people, but poorly run by executives

      Pros

      Great people, Remote work for some roles, productivity based, flexibility. Unlimited recharge policy. Customer and partner relationships. We still have the core of a great company, and we can turn this ship around.

      Cons

      Executive leadership only seems concerned with selling the company to satisfy desires of VC owner. Many misleading statements and lack of transparency. Business has trended down due to mismanagement and competition lately. Executive staff has turned over 2 or 3 times during the tenure of the current CEO. New CRO seems to want to run a vendor playbook which may not work for a VAR. Sales quotas increase year over year with little increase to salaries and no variable comp bonus plan increases. Promotions have been on hold for almost 3 years. Health care is relatively expensive. 401k match on the smaller side. The article by S&P Global gave many employees our first real insight to our financial health.
