Layoffs are so 90's

Pros

Layoffs are lame. Unlimited PTO is cool Tons of opportunity to work on different projects not necessarily projects you were hired to work on. 100% Remote work is great for awhile

Cons

Management direction changes with the seasons No clear career path explanations No mentorships No internal/external feedback mechanisms. No chance to move to other teams I would consider working at Optiv as a "beginner-friendly" place to work as a consultant. The sales process to get a client onboard takes forever. Want to be invited to a conference? It's about who you know.

Pros

Many of the areas within Optiv are like a start-up, so there are a lot of learning opportunities that come with that and there is an opportunity to take on a much as you want right away. But, expect to have to guard your time religiously. However, there is also a lot of business development opportunities that are easily taken on, if you are looking to expand your knowledge of how global companies deliver tech and digital services. Leadership is also a lot closer to you, so expect great exposure to the top if you are willing to speak up and make those connections.

Cons

Sexism and outdated ways of thinking are rampant throughout the company. I have seen many of my female coworkers leave due to this sort of treatment or because they felt like their experience with reporting up to HR or leadership was not well-received. I have also seen many consultants who came from a "Big4" (such as Deloitte, EY, or PwC) come to Optiv and then go right back to their previous organization because they felt like Optiv lacked clear and defined career paths for them to grow or that Optiv was stuck in their old purely "tech implement and get out" ways. Optiv is growing rapidly and that can come with a lot of cons (and pros) when it comes to employee engagement, work life balance, and general time (or a lack of budget) to actually take courses or trainings or gain certifications.
