      Pros

      Excellent opportunities to help customers, huge diverse set of products and services that can be brought to the table. Some bright spots in the sales team, but few and far between.

      Cons

      Sales reps are allowed to treat SE's as their personal assistants and secretaries. Sales reps more interested in abusing their SE's into breaking the rules and having the SE do the sales reps job for them to make them successful. No appreciation for the SE or the skill sets they bring to the table. Incredibly harsh sales environment for SE's, allowed by mid-management. SE's not supported well with cover to push back on inappropriate Sales asks. It's a popularity contest to determine success. If the sales guys aren't getting the lackey they want out of the SE, they will work to sabotage and dismiss the SE from the company. Career path for SE is determined, it appears, based on a popularity with Sales reps, who continuing try to go around process and break rules. SE who tries to work with ethics and integrity is quickly black listed by needy and obnoxious sales reps who treat SE's as personal staff. Complaints to Sales management of this practice went ignored. Finally had to leave the company for stress/anxiety and health reasons.

      Unlimited opportunity to grow and learn among best talent in industry

      Pros

      I get to work with really smart, engaged and innovative people on groundbreaking projects that have real impact for clients. I feel exceptionally lucky to be part of it all. I get to work from virtually anywhere on my schedule. I don't have to worry about limited vacation time. My management and my team look to me to do my very best, and trust me to deliver. The leadership of the company is unusally accessible, approachable and engaged--the CEO knew my name my first week.

      Cons

      Because the teams are really distributed--working from many different locations--you have to put in a bit more effort to schedule meetings and make sure communication is proactive. The pace of change and growth in cyber security really pushes people outside their comfort zones quite a bit (but I think this is where some of the best innovation happens).

      Pros

      One of the best things about Optiv is its culture and values. Optiv is focused on meeting the needs of the customer. The customer is at the heart of everything we do. Although Optiv is now the largest pure play security company in North America, it has still managed to retain an entrepreneurial spirit. Employees have tremendous latitude to grow the business, share ideas, and present innovative ideas to the executive leadership team. Be prepared, however, because if you have a great idea you will likely get the opportunity to take it and turn it into something great! The executive team has also invested heavily in the development of Optiv employees and looks to promote and grow talent. For those security geeks out there, Optiv is also a great place to work because you get exposure to fun and exciting technologies, are able to get hands on practice in different labs, and attend national security conferences and training. If you have drive and love security, Optiv is where you want to be!

      Cons

      With rapid growth comes some challenges. It is difficult at times to learn the organization, especially as leadership and management positions turn over or are added.
