Pros

The ability to work from home FT. Some supportive leadership. Great colleagues. Descent pay and overall compensation package.

Cons

No flexibility in work schedule. High pressure and constantly changing requirements. Many unsupportive leaders. Very little vertical career mobility.

Pros

High-quality professional teams and colleagues with an excellent range of clinical backgrounds. Good racial diversity, though less so at upper levels. Good LGBTQ+ diversity. Good compensation. 401K match, HSA. Clinical decisions are based on consistent criteria. Many services and products are available to help meet member needs (within the limits of their benefits packages). On the one hand, a "pro" is Optum's heavy investment in technology and AI to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and remain a leader in the field.

Cons

On the other hand, a "con" is that jobs may potentially be reduced by being "off-shored" or replaced by technology/AI (several waves of significant lay-offs in 2019-early 2020).
