Employees are not vauled

Pros

The only pro about Optum is you will learn which doctors are the best providers.

Cons

This company does not value employees. If you get a promotion, your raise will only be by 10% but if someone is hired from outside the company, they will be offered a salary of 30% higher at a minimum. This company changed their leadership structure to cut the number of lead PSR positions. Anyone that was not rehired for their current Lead PSR position was demoted and lost 5% of their pay, and no this was not merit based at all. Lastly a lot the clinic supervisors and upper management have no idea how clinics run day to day. These same leaders will not defend you when patients curse you out and call you out your name. Instead they go to the patient and apologize and smooth things over.

Pros

Getting better at adopting newer technologies. Is still allowing full-time telecommute. PTO plan is generous.

Cons

Pay plan is getting worse and raises are more stingy. The company never hesitates to find a way to get in its own way. They’re their own worst enemy. Senior leadership decisions leave a lot to be desired. Huge outsourcing initiative right now, for no reason other than cheaper. For a healthcare company, the health insurance plans they offer employees is so bad. The company is so cheap with their offerings. Your experience is entirely dependent on your manager. People with great experiences had good managers. People with bad managers had a nightmare of a time. Don’t incentivize employees enough to stay.

The bad outweighs the good

Pros

The pay is good. Some of the benefits are great, including the free Peloton membership. Working remote 100% is nice but a con as well. See below. Overall the bad outweighs the good and this position is basically a glorified babysitting job.

Cons

It's a hit or miss on direct reports. Most direct reports are just doing it for the paycheck and it's really hard to get them focused on their metrics because it is a metric based system. There are TOO many process changes. You can't keep up. I feel for my team. I understand they are burnt out because of all the changes, as am I. I understand change is needed for growth but this is just too much. There are no holiday bonuses. Direct reports receive bonuses if they go above and beyond for their metrics but as supervisors pushing them to do their best, we don't get a bonus if they are meeting the above requirements. Working remote is nice however, you don't get the face to face with your direct reports or leaders. Does not help to make a genuine connection or working relationship. While I have succeed with my own team, others may face difficulty. Leaders do not accept their mistakes. A leader wanted me to threaten a direct report that what she was doing was falsifying a record during off hours. I confirmed my leaders time zone was incorrect and my emyployee was in fact documenting during her working hours. She could have potentially ruined my relationship with that employee and broken all trust. When I pointed this out to my leader she did not accept it as her mistake and did not apologize.
