Pros
I was able to work remotely so no commuting. I had frequent communication with colleagues on Microsoft Teams so work wasn't isolating. UnitedHealth Group / Optum subscribes to LinkedIn Learning so I took classes to learn new skills and upgrade my current skills. Very good health benefits at an affordable cost.
Cons
It is a big company. My job position got eliminated among mass layoffs. It is difficult to land a position at this company. You have to fulfill all the required qualifications listed in the job posting or you will not be considered for the position. Optum / UnitedHealth Group does not use ATS (Applicant Tracking Software). They use staff recruiters instead to review your resume. I looked on their job posting board recently and there is a lot less postings available than when I was hired so probably hiring less or hiring current internal employees. Biggest negative is mass layoffs to cut costs.
