      Oracle - Best place to work with if you don't expect a faster growth

      Pros

      With less number of years of experience, ppl normally be willing to learn and upgrade themself technically. Oracle is the right place if ur interest lies in learning new technologies and xplore new stuff. Flexi timings, employee respect and good environment are other reasons that definitely needs to be considered.

      Cons

      Ppl will be surpriced if I say Oracle donot pay much. But though bitter, its the recent fact. Then, its really a tough job to get promotions here earlier than the normal 2 yr appraisal cycle which every normal company would follow. Inspite of getting 4 ratings, need to beg for promotion.

      Pros

      The people who work in Oracle are all very supportive and there is a real sense of community.

      Cons

      As a consultant, it can mean that you are told at very late notice about where you will be working/travelling to next, but this is really part of the job, so is to be expected.

      Pros

      It's a global company, leader in it's field, always looking ahead, it has recognition in the market, sometimes to the level that it is overwhelming for clients.

      Cons

      It's just a branch, no meaningful opportunities for professional advancement within Canada. In particular Oracle Direct, it is considered as the 'call center' of Oracle, and eventhough your senior management will be requiring you to be strategic in your work, the compensation only compensates the ones who meet the metrics (eg. average 50 calls per day, etc) If you can't deliver that on a consistent manner, you could be in serious problems.
