Pros

Pretty stable company, one could argue enterprise software is one of the more resilient markets toward economic downturns. Many of the best products in the market are owned by Oracle including PeopleSoft and Hyperion.

Cons

Bureaucratic nightmare. Literally 5 tiers of management within the inside sales organization alone! Selling the value of our software to customers is the easy part, dealing with Oracle is the hard part. We constantly feel slighted and many decisions from senior management impact our ability to do our job and earn a living.

Pros

After joining Oracle, you can see how small small group work together / not work together / fight with each other. If you can survive in a small group foes < 2 years, you are the champ & would have no problem in another other company. You get a change to work on critical account ( if part of consulting / field support) & see how to DUMP & RUN with customer issues, blame customer / his employees for all the problems created by Oracle software. You also get a chance to meet some vert talented & best software guru's in the industry.

Cons

Do not care about employees much, but so much worry for Wall Street results, know how to save money - with no employees travel. They will waste millions of dollars in Open World, entertaing customers, but when its time to share wealth with employees, its like pulling teeth from the manager. Most of the managers have been @ Oracle for more than 15 years & reach a stage where they won't quit Oracle, unable to keep up with technological advances, won't be in touch with customers. Bars for engineers has been going up n up while managers have been lucky with not much work to do.

Pros

Pay can be good for some. Generally those who hire from outside and negotiate good starting salaries. Sales people with very thick skin can earn a very good living. Oracle looks good on a resume. Lots of different products and technologies to work with.

Cons

Virtually no career growth. Many, many people in the same role for 10 years + I very top driven organization where you really need to manage up. Very much a "what have you done for me lately" company. Tech folks now hourly employees which was a big hit initially (OT pay), but now a big bone of contention as OT needs to be "approved". Don't expect a raise anytime soon. Last year the raise pool was .5%, this year it is .6%. See more than a handful of folks with more than 14 years?
