Culture that can be improved a lot.
Pros
Excellent benefits, Excellent raises and stock options only if your boss gives them to you
Cons
Very rarely promotes from within the org to senior management levels these days. If you joined in 1990s you could certainly rise to senior management. But if you joined in last 10 years, you will get stuck at middle management level. If you want to really rise, quit the company go to a client or competitor and become a VP, or senior VP then Oracle will hire you back as a VP. Culture is of great infighting between different groups. Not of unity and collaboration and harmony but of jealousy and vindictiveness. I was pretty sure that was never the intention of senior management, but they were either never aware of this problem or if they are aware they do not know how to bring people together and make them as one people. Great technical ideas and innovations are shot down by lower, and middle management with an excuse we don’t have time for this. So great ideas and visions never reach senior management. That is probably a problem for most large companies. Certainly a lot of people people with egos much bigger than than their brains work here. Because they are not even ready to listen to you, then how will oracle grow and innovate at speed of light that is how fast you need to innovate to be a leader in this age. Plagiarism is also very common. If you come up with a great idea. You might get a nasty email from your manager saying you don’t know —- a couple of bad curse words. And a couple days later you will see your slides in presentation of CTO with credits going to that same manager . Please have courtesy to simply thank people who really did the work even if you want to take credit for it. That brings me no the next thing the use of curse words was very common. Especially by some managers and senior managers in open meetings with 100+ participants. Not just use of curse words in general but targeted at individuals to demean them and abuse them verbally. Very disappointing.
