I was let go because they decided to outsource their documentation. I helped in creating their documentation suite, and without notice, they just decided to abandon in-house writing. The CEO and CTO were asking shady questions and looking for irrelevant quantitative information about how we generate our content. They clearly don't understand how technical writing works and believe that their own employees aren't worth paying for. Avoid this company if you want to work somewhere that actually cares about you instead of viewing you as just a commodity.
