Origami Risk reviews about "diversity"

Some of the biggest cons I see are: -outdated approach to delivering software projects (waterfall) that oftentimes results in missed timelines and customer concessions. The amount of time I spend looking at a project plan to update dates (that inevitably get moved every week) is insane. And then I have to bother my team members throughout the week to do the same. It’s so so so so inefficient. It’s easily my absolute least favorite and most annoying thing about my job. PLEASE make it stop. -having under-qualified Origami colleagues on projects that make work more difficult than it needs to be and also (more oftentimes than not) having under-qualified offshore resources on your project that make work waaayyy more difficult and frustrating than it needs to be. A lot of our concessions could be avoided in my opinion if we staffed projects properly with skilled people. -the software looks “old”/ dated but I hear that’s something the company will be investing in to improve - Racial/ethnic diversity in management and leadership. The only real “diversity” in management or leadership is white women. -You can oftentimes tell who has been at Origami for 4+ years based on how they respond to new ideas or change…. Not ALWAYS… but oftentimes you can.

Corporate Politics Some issues with sexism Zero Diversity Origami used to be one of the very best companies to work for, but they have become much more of a traditional corporate company than the fun tech company. You will be underpaid for the value you are bringing! Compensation is far from transparent, and they are more than happy to "make things up" then pay you based off of your performance review/ the work you are doing. Less merit based, and more experience/politics based in terms of promotion and salary increase. An analyst right out of college can very well be doing the exact work as a "Senior" but would get paid much worse! There were a number of instances of sexism when I worked there, and nothing was done about it from leadership or HR. Not quite the toxic "ol boys club," but far from the progressive liberal company they like to pretend to be.

Gossipy, retaliatory, discriminatory culture. Sat in on a “Women of Origami” meeting once where the HR lead advised everyone they needed to work many more hours than the paid 40, and the CEO informed them that they were in direct competition with each other while at the same time absurdly emphasizing a “work life balance”. Very much a “coffee is for closers” 90s-throwback culture, but no clear path to success. Led by white aging men, with the occasional token female thrown in. Very little diversity.
