Pros

Interview process weeds out bad management and workers, great pay, take home truck, bonuses, extensive managment and tech training, working with orkin feels like working with family close knit tight group of people at my branch. If you work for orkin you work hard for a living. Most of the techs in my branch have been with orkin over 10 years that should say alot if your looking for a career.

Cons

Need to implementation of veteran hiring program or a better one. Although hiring process is extensive for managment takes along time. Need update in technology give techs gps for jobs or the system ups uses its a gps and job list all in one would bring up production. Call center in atlanta needs to get on same page as branches need a better system in place for same day calls and need to pay our men on the front lines a bit more.

Pros

Orkin has a long history and is as stable a company you will find. Marketing has improved in the last couple of years. Sales and route manager positions reward excellence and provide vehicles / gas. If you have the right manager, there is a great support system and great flexibility. New technology is being integrated into sales approach, which is extremely helpful and convenient. Training is available if you take advantage of it. A lot of managers came up through the ranks.

Cons

Bugs... Crawl spaces... Attics.. If you are claustrophobic find another sales job. With improved technology comes 'big brother'.. New vehicles are lo-jacked and there are lots of hoops to jump through to report your activity. Again, this can be annoying or even disruptive depending on management. Orkin doesn't reward customer loyalty, persistent price hikes can agitate customer base. Leads are season dependent ... Plan on spending a couple of hours on the phone each day setting up appointments.

Pros

Training is exceptionable. Co-workers are generally friendly and willing to work together if time allows.Overall, the training is good for getting your foot in the door of the industry.

Cons

Terrible work environment in reference to management and schedule. The company policies are not adhered anymore to benefit the employee or even to the customer. As a pest control technician with the company for almost 13 years, the atmosphere in our branch got worse . Management was constantly putting the workers down and overworking us from 7:30am to sometimes 8 or 9 at night due to scheduling conflicts imposed by unscrupulous policies called"same day starts" which forces a technician to accept new customers to be serviced the same day they call in without any regard to the heavy schedule already. The service suffers as a consequence for all involved . Customer relations are constantly jeopardized due to price increases that are sometimes not properly given to notification. Also, forget it if you are hit with any physical ailments. Your job is constantly threatened and if you have a life event that affects your job, the company is hesitant to reach out and help. You are fortunate if you have a branch manager willing to look out for you. There is no real opportunity for raises or being promoted and the incentives for improving is constantly changing where it's become almost impossible to meet.
