I was told they run LPNs into the ground and..
Pros
Great opportunity to work in the hospital. Great benefits. I feel supported by management as of right now. Cafeteria food is really good.
Cons
THE PAY. The pay is absolutely terrible. I’m making $21/hr and shift differential is negligible at about $2-4 on nights/weekends. I feel like my responsibilities as an LPN we’re not clearly defined and the list keeps growing. They just now implemented preceptor pay for LPNs ($1.50/hr). For the amount of work they have us doing, the pay certainly needs to be increased as it’s not even competitive with Advent. I know they are having a tough time hiring LPNs and this might explain why. I only took the job knowing that I’m taking a pay cut because I wanted to work in a specialty. I can see why all of my coworkers have been in the department for less than a year. LPNs are getting ran through/burnt out. It doesn’t take long to see this. They have got to work on retention.
