Pros

Good PTO and benefits. Good pay.

Cons

The firm currently has a ration of 6 attorneys per secretary. You work really hard and there is no toleration of less than perfect work. Attorney's don't communicate well with secretaries. There is definitely a us vs. them attitude with staff.

Pros

Good people and many excellent lawyers. Competitive salaries and good benefits.

Cons

The firm seems to have lost pace compared to other law firms its size. For years the former chairperson said that there was going to be a consolidation of a handful of elite, global law firms - like the accounting companies. But Orrick was never able to crack into that top level and has drifted downward.

Good place to work

Pros

Orrick provides opportunities to work on headline transactions with very smart, teamwork oriented lawyers. It's a place where everyone says "thank you".

Cons

The firm could offer more substantive training programs and resources. In recent years, efforts have been made to provide that programming. They won't hire enough associates.
