Pros

Assignment are interesting and varied, colleagues are easy to work with, compensation is competitive, and the company culture is absolutely fantastic. What really makes Orrick stand out to me, however, is that they’re genuinely inclusive without the charades that other institutions put on to attract more “progressive” employees. They make me feel welcome as opposed to being an accessory to their agenda.

Cons

No job is totally perfect. Working directly with so many different people, you’re bound to run into difficult situations which require some patience and finesse. That said, anyone applying to work here who can’t handle these sorts of challenges should seriously reconsider their occupation.

Pros

One of the biggest pros is how forward-thinking the company is. Management actively encourages us to push boundaries and think outside the box, which is something you don’t often get in the legal profession. It’s one of the most exciting firms I’ve ever worked for (and when you’ve worked for the kinds of firms I have, that’s really saying something).

Cons

It’s just a matter of not everyone can handle this type of work environment. Not everyone is cut out to always be so ready to think creatively and approach problems from a solutions-oriented mindset. I think the biggest con is just watching people come and go who thought they were something they’re not.
