Pros

Offices with good managers create a good culture within and defend their employees and attempt to help them.

Cons

This is only one persons experience and opinions, if you don’t read anything below, and accept a job at OrthoCarolina, remember to always always always CYA and document. Between the systems and programs, electronics, internet, phones, power, drives, cable, printing, iPads etc. that we are required to use, you can guarantee that one of those things won’t be working on any given day at the office. This makes it impossible to get your already overloaded job done. They will not hire additional help or put resources/money into the things that continue to break (they will only “slap a bandaid on it”) yet, you are constantly interrogated about why you have overtime when you are doing the job of the people and nothing ever works. If someone makes a mistake, there aren’t really any consequences, however someone MUST be blamed so a culture of blame and defensiveness and an unwillingness to own up to mistakes has been created - usually a scape goat emerges in each office and you better hope it’s not you. If you’re in healthcare because you enjoy caring for patients, you may not want to work here, because you cannot provide proper patient care due to the above reasons. This is probably implied but as they will not hire more help or properly fix anything, they do not pay well either and it’s like pulling teeth to advocate for yourself a salary that you can actually live off of. Each office and even individuals in the same job does their job differently so there is no consistency in anything which creates hostility among co-workers because no one knows their job includes entirely. Further, since everyone is already overloaded, no one wants to take initiative to take on further responsibility, which perpetuates the blame cycle. Also, you cannot apply for anything internal unless you have been in your current position for a year, that means if something that is a really good fit opens up but if it’s not quite the right time, the more senior person will get it, even if they are less qualified.
