Pros

Good Company which cares about it's customers. Pays above the standard retail wage. Great benefits, great products.

Cons

Although Orvis has taken many strides to attempt to combat their central management top-down silo approach, It is still a company of those that manage and control, and those that must get with the program... lower down associates. Tenure means little, and raises are below the cost of living at the lower echelon jobs in retail.

+ Company has sound ethical ethos + Cares about minority status and listens + Good pay with careful progression ladder for those who work hard + Solid HR practices that put employees first + Great products and interesting time to work for the company

Cons

- Some old procedures that need to be modernized - Some management that do not take fast enough action on decisions - Product selection could be more cohesive

Pros

Some of the people I worked with really made it more enjoyable than it should have been. The customer base was generally good to work with compared to other businesses.

Cons

Really don't value their employees despite usual cliches about them being company's greatest asset. Bizarre employment terms which combined with changing working practices over time left people working half their hours on part time and half on zero hours terms. Zero hours rates were low - we're talking not keeping pace with NMW increases by time I left (one of the reasons I left).
