Great People, Evolving Business

Pros

Company is full of smart, experienced professionals. Team members are very generous with time to answer questions from colleagues throughout organization. Leadership is clearly actively concerned and interested in supporting an attractive company culture, which is apparent through equity & inclusion initiatives, internal professional development offerings, flexible hybrid work arrangements when possible among other things. People at Otak want to do well at their work and feel very committed to improving company practices whenever possible--many things are actively improving all the time. There are many opportunities for staff to get involved. People with an internal sense of drive, curiosity and advancement do well.

Cons

Otak can feel large and somewhat corporate at times. Communication from leadership isn't always clear as a result. It can be difficult to understand company structure and paths for advancement. There can sometimes be disconnect between internal teams departments. Sometimes in the work to grow and advance the company can result in many initiatives without conclusion points. There can be a tendency to recruit externally for large roles vs. grow internally. A lot can be asked of staff--not immune from typical A/E/C work-life balance issues.

Pros

OTAK supports projects throughout Oregon. It has many contracts with various agencies throughout the Portland area and other areas in Oregon. Stayin g local and not having to travel nationwide.

Cons

Support staff is hard to get hold of but other than that it is a great company.
