Pros

Great people with whom you will want to play outside in your off time. Flexibility to take on new projects or responsibilities if you can convince management of their necessity. Fairly flat structure so not a lot of inefficient and ineffective layers of management. An actual production floor making actual products actually in America! A commitment to high quality, highly functional product.

Cons

New majority owner is the huge Korean manufacturing conglomerate Youngone corp. The chairman is very hands on and after 2 years of hands laissez fair it is time for him to drive Korean style efficiency into the laid back Seattle outdoor company. It ain't pretty. Company is merging systems with Smith USA, another Youngone holding. The independence and uniqueness of OR will soon be a thing of the past.

Pros

OR is focused on being a great place to work and attracting great people. Because of the great people doing great work sales have been growing like crazy. Something like 20% a year for 10 years. To keep up with the growth over 40 people got hired in the last two years. Obviously things start to change and its not like the good old days, whatever that was. But the focus is still on having fun with doing great work. Last summer there were company outings, PAID, to go rock climbing, mtn biking, paddle boarding, etc.

Cons

As always when the stakes get higher the expectations get higher. Some people are psyched for not and its not a problem. Some people can't handle it. Those people tend to move on, probably good for everyone.
