      Not a bad company to work for, if you can stand being super conservative and old school.

      Pros

      Seventy plus years of profitability. Been around for one hundred plus years, very stable. PACCAR makes quality products. Global company. Good benefit.

      Cons

      VERY CONSERVATIVE, i.e: Dress code - almost everyone is in a black suit, bright color clothing is "strongly discouraged". Strict work schedule, no option for telecommute, compressed work week. No work-life balance. Too many petty and unnecessary rules, i.e. no Starbucks during breaks because we'd be spending corporate time for a cup of coffee; no Pepsi because they did no purchase our trucks; no Mercedes-Benz because they're a competitor; shouldn't use the elevator if you're only going up or down one floor. Depending on management, employees may not feel appreciative.

      Pros

      1. Good experience. The positions at PACCAR are structured and well-defined. Employees learn how to do their jobs correctly and well. Managers similarly learn how to measure and control the parts of the organization that they are responsible for. 2. Great benefits. 401K, vacation, holidays, defined benefit pension, medical, dental, etc, etc.

      Cons

      1. Promotional opportunities often appear to go to those best "connected" and not necessarily most competent. 2. Communication of job performance seems to be incomplete and meaningless. A great review does not ensure promotion to the next level. 3. Although there is an employee of the month program, there are few other forms of recognition, especially from a monetary perspective.

      Pros

      Great Pay, Great benefits, Tuition reimbursement, Flexible, A lot of growth opportunity. Since I have been here the entire department has turned over a few times and only twice was it due to somebody leaving the company, All the other times it was for other opportunities within the company. The company is very good about employee development, provided your willing to evolve. I frequently look for jobs outside the company but I just can't imagine leaving.

      Cons

      It is a big company with a very tall management structure so it can be slow to move which can be frustrating, but I think that is par for the course for such a large company.
