Where Nepotism and Local Fauna Flourishes

Pros

The Free Car park is exceptional value and in July the endemic South Australian Wood Duck takes up residence on the Eastern Side of the Walking Path around the premises. With it's inquisitive nature, feeding these beautiful creatures is a delight and helps deal with strain and trauma of working at PACCAR Australia

Cons

Nepotism is rife. Family and Friends of the HR Department are seemingly given an easy path to promotion opportunities. Children, Nephews, Future Family all given a leg up whereas other individuals are given nothing of the sort. The workforce is essentially captive as there are no other prospects in the area but that doesn't justify treating staff as prisoners. So unless you are related to members of the Human Resource Department or have a keen interest in Cake Decorating, those looking to progress their careers need not apply.

Pros

This company has a long history of profitability. Many great opportunities if you have the support of management team. Multiple locations across the country.

Cons

Strong good old boy club. Minorities and women need not apply for anything outside of a hourly position. Outdated information systems, change management non existent, poor family and work balanace. Training programs inept, workers morale is very low but most have been there too long to leave. Toxic atmosphere..............

Pros

Paccar is a large stable company that provides decent job security. Provides a good name to put on a resume.

Cons

Pay is poor, recession gives corporate an excuse to not give raises. Even when sales return, they will not increase the raises to make up for the increasingly low pay. It is comical to watch Pigott walk around with his minions ready to dance for him at the drop of a dime. Example: He wanted peanut M&Ms, went to the vending machine and it didn't have them. Next thing you see is half a dozen people running around the building and even driving to gas stations to find a bag of M&M's. Goes to show that everyone is afraid to be the person to say "NO" to him.
