Pros

PACCAR can be a solid place to work for individuals who value predictability and clear boundaries between work and personal time. However, employees who prefer to challenge ideas or push for change may find the culture less receptive to questioning leadership.

Cons

As you move higher in the organization, it becomes clear that problem‑solving, strategic thinking, and driving meaningful change are not leadership priorities. Work is consistently pushed down to the lowest levels, while accountability does not move upward when issues arise. The warranty results are a visible outcome of this approach, and internally it’s clear that the same leadership responsible for those outcomes remains in place. There is little evidence that people, product quality, or customers are the primary concern—compensation and status appear to matter more. This is disappointing, because PACCAR could be a great place to work with fewer layers of ineffective middle management and more leaders who are willing to own problems and drive improvement.

Solid, Stable Company but stuck in ancient times

Pros

80+ years of profitability, employer paid pension program, 401k match up to 5%. Certainly, has opportunities for growth and training within certain roles, but can depend on your management. New PACCAR North Texas corporate office is kind of stale and generic. Lacks food options besides vending but tries to make up for it by bringing in food trucks or special events.

Cons

PACCAR will never be at the cutting edge of technologies in the automotive areas. In fact, they are happy to remain far at the back of the pack, which may explain how they have maintained their profitability. Many things are still done on spreadsheets and more basic programs. While a lot of the heavy lifting is parceled out to 3rd parties. The path forward in todays environment is quite murky. As a company they are needing a clear direction on where they want to 5-10 years from now. Something more than just "profitable". The CEO touted 2024 as record breaking, and one of the top years in the history of PACCAR, and yet layoffs were done in February '25 with no clear answers or direction as to why. On top of that they use to have 2 days WFH, but last March it was reduced to 1 day, and as you can guess this March it was reduced to zero. Same story as the other, "culture and collaboration". In their original Telecommuting Agreement they stated, "PACCAR understands the need for employees to balance work and life." Apparently, they no longer understand...

Pros

Located on the eastside, easy access to downtown Bellevue and the park.

Cons

I cannot say this enough, please avoid this organization ( especially if you’re a person of color, it’s a white mans world in this organization and they’re hellbent on keeping it that way). Upper management is stuck in the 60s and has outright contempt for their employees ( doubly so if you’re a person of color). This place is stuck in the past and the technology you use in the office is barely functional. They’ll sell you on working here like a used car salesman tries to sell you a clunker as a sports car. This lace will destroy your mental well-being as you’re expected to give your all and still deal with the nastiness of those in charge.
