Pros

I’ve been with PACCAR for over eight years in IT working with the lowest level to highest level employees. PACCAR is an interesting company, like any other it has good and bad attributes. It is a very stable but can be fiscally and culturally conservative. There is a lot of opportunity to grow your career with the aging of the workforce and legacy technology. If you’re inclined you can champion new technologies and methodologies to help modernize the company. Or try a different career path with the diverse set of businesses that PACCAR is in. While you won’t get paid the same as many of the tech companies in the area you can climb the ladder faster and get a great deal of experience. You have to be the change you want to see in the company and you are responsible for growing your own career.

Cons

PACCAR has been around a long time (110 years!) and is slow to change. PACCAR has a bad reputation when it comes to culture and a lot of that is deserved (read the beardgate reviews on here). You will likely not get the same compensation that tech companies in the area give but you will have a great place to make an impact. I feel that the company is slowly adjusting its culture to the modern work force. If it doesn’t it will have a hard time attracting the next generation as the boomers retire.

Pros

Awesome team of people. We can solve just about any problem that comes at us from manufacturing or from the field. Support current test and future innnovation.

Cons

There really aren't any con's to working out here. Possibly the weather if you can't stand rain.

Pros

Pay rate is not the lowest, but not on par with the rest of the world.

Cons

No benefits, no advancement opportunities, Poor lower and middle management, lack of realistic expectations, typical false statements and a lot of false promises. No mentor program for entry level. If your a contract employee your chances of being hired are remote. They will hire outside to replace you once they find someone willing to take a lower wage for your position. They are notorious for saying one position is engineering related.
