Fun and challenging

Pros

Everyone in technology has been a joy to work with. The people are smart, collaborative, and helpful. You have a lot of opportunities to expand your skill set and grow. The projects have been very fulfilling and challenging overall. I also notice an effort amongst the senior management to get feedback on how they can improve the workplace which is awesome. Everyone is passionate about what they're working on. You occasionally see a good part of the tech team grinding on their projects late into the evening and this is where all the team bonding and fun shenanigans/jokes happen.

Cons

Occasionally we're grinding on our projects late into the evening. Advancement (the path to raises, promotions) isn't straightforward

Enjoying My Time at PEAK6

Pros

Mostly speaking about the tech side There are typically interesting problems and the work is stimulating The firm is willing to invest in growing people The firm adapts and pivots in response to business needs well, making for a very dynamic environment Hard work is recognized People are given ownership and accountability, and trust to find the right solution Always open to ideas and discussions about change They definitely care about getting people that have a strong culture fit, not just someone that has the credentials or resume Tech team has a decent culture, often fun and lively Can-do attitude taken to solving problems and working through rough spots

Cons

Tech could probably benefit from more work that is strategically planned and less that is reactive The lack of structure and lean style can be freeing, but can also backfire and make work difficult Tech and trading could probably be somewhat better aligned, but this appears to be improving

Careful what you wish for

Pros

If you like the illusion of working for a "cutting edge" trading firm that provides you all the trappings of a modern day boiler room operation then you have arrived at the right place.

Cons

Cutthroat culture masked by a teamwork edit sent down from the husband and wife owners. Let me very clear, this will never be about anything more than enriching the owners. You are a hired hand that have been given just enough rope to hang yourself. You will not sleep on Sunday nights ever again. In fact you may never rest well as long as you are working there.
