Pros

Excited to have open to public after a month of training

Cons

It's retail in the end regardless of "golf". Low team building efforts

Pros

If you like to be around golf, it's okay. 70% of the customers are nice and easy to deal with. Most of the people here are golfers so it's nice to play golf when you get a day off.

Cons

No set schedules. Low hourly wage (no commission here) Not a lot of time spent on truly training the staff. Only growth potential if you are willing to move around the country. You have to be at high management level to make enough money to live on. You are expected to do whatever the customer wants to make them happy. Even breaking policy. You deal with customers who want discounts all day long but there is NO EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT Customers are allowed to abuse the return policy. 30% of the customers have bad attitudes when something they want isn't in stock or if you have to special order something and it's not there in 2-3 days. Unrealistic expectations.

Pros

Most customers are pleasant to deal with and like being in the store. The associates work well with each other and with management; there is mutual courtesy and respect. There is also pride in being the ultimate golf store and a high percent of employees who aren't professionals are very good golfers.

Cons

Management may schedule hours for associates and then withdraw them at the last minute. Business is seasonal; football season starts to crowd out golf in August. The stores are busy around the holidays, then sales drop off until Spring. April through July are probably the businest months.
