      Pros

      Laid-back culture, friendly people, good company mission. Supportive to incoming engineers, though the onboarding can be haphazard. Good benefits, despite being a nonprofit. Nice location, decent nearby food options.

      Cons

      Management has faced challenges adapting to modern technology practices like agile development and DevOps. Inability to invest time in changes that will relieve technical debt is frustrating.

      Pros

      No organization is perfect and from the reviews, it looks like the disgruntled employees have spoken. However, I truly believe that PLOS is a great place to work. PLOS has great benefits, 401(k) matching, fruit, snacks, coffee/tea/cocoa in the kitchen. Employees gather for drinks and snacks on Friday afternoons. The company offers an amazing Holiday Party and does a fun summer event.

      Cons

      As the organization grows, there are "growing pains" and there are some employees who are upset about necessary changes.

      I really can't think of one!

      Cons

      - Terrible culture in the Cambridge office, and the office itself is pretty grim and depressing. - Members of the PLOS One team that have been there for longer than a year are unwelcoming, unfriendly and unsupportive; they're basically AI robots with less emotional intelligence. Very high turnover in the team. Pointless meetings. Unnecessary bureaucracy. BORING work. - The morale among employees in general is SO LOW. - Strange car park rules. The car park is so small.
