Pros

PLOS is a wonderful organisation to work for. It is a privilege to work for an employer who has such high ethical and moral standards. Everyone is extremely friendly but everyone is approachable and willing to help. The office atmosphere is always positive. The open access mission is reflected in the workplace with feedback sought at every opportunity. The pay and benefits are really good. The salary is slightly higher than the national average and there are lots of little perks such as unlimited biscuits and puzzles in the breakout areas. A work-life balance is actively encouraged.

Cons

The Cambridge office is partnered with the office in San Francisco. This means, due to the time different meetings can often be late. However, we are encouraged to take back that time by either coming in later or finishing earlier the next day.

Pros

Lovely people to work with. Nice non-profit atmosphere. Pay likely above what you'd find at another publisher.

Cons

There are few opportunities to move up within the company. Very few options for someone on the publishing side of the business to move into. Large bulk of the company is located in the US office
