Small team that works well together - pretty much fulltime remote. Very little red tape or BS. Team is free to make tech decisions, choose technologies etc....
Less overhead than a big company - eg. we use slack and whatever other tools we want. You won't spend 2 weeks trying to get access to a system for example.
Newer projects use interesting tech like kubernetes on GCP.
More job security than a startup. We have production apps that do actual business and you will contribute to them. Your work has a tangible impact and you can work directly with business users. Putting in well-received changes is rewarding.
Good work life balance, with minimal off-hour requriements.
Very tight feedback loop between tech and business. Engineers aren't wasted here or put on nonsense projects.
Essential business, more likely to thrive in pandemic error violatitlity.
Cons
Other areas of the company, such as sales teams, seem cutthroat and probably don't have as good of a work-life balance.
Legacy systems, while actively being replaced, are still a pain to keep up.
Prone to busy spurts when bugs or production issues arise.
Healthcare and 401k are subpar.
