Pros

Pros would have to be the fact that we are remote.

Cons

The cons would have to be salary is low for the amount of responsibility.

Pros

The people who work on the bench in the chromatography department, and some senior staff, are very kind and great to work with. A fantastic opportunity to learn HPLC mass spectrometry instrumentation and many cutting-edge extraction techniques. You can have a fairly flexible schedule as long as you can get your work done.

Cons

The chemists are horrendously overworked in the chromatography department. Sometimes I'd feel like I was doing the work of 5 people in one day. Unfortunately, for most new chemists over the past 2 years, training is also horrendous. Communication is awful. Chemists regularly don't know what they're going to be working on until late morning or afternoon, forcing them to work long hours due to inefficiency. Compensation is horribly below market value. They will boost new scientists coming in, leaving experienced staff in the dust. They don't make any effort to retain their mid-level staff. If anything, the overworking of the staff almost makes it feel like they're trying to be actively driven out.
