The environment was very political.

Pros

It was a semi laid back work environment. It was very political but it wasn't overly competitive between piers. They give you a free shirt every year.

Cons

There were a lot of different departments and it caused a lot of petty politics. The company did not feel like a place that values its employees.

Stable company with little chance of folding.

Cons

Low pay. HR director told us that PPG's strategy was to pay at least 5% below market average. Benefits poor Pressure forced down the line on employees. Upper management will never admit a mistake. Employees treated like slaves. Poor work / life balance You are just a number. They do not care for you as a person.

I would have appreciated a better salary increase but it was during a recession so I understood to an extent.
