Pros

The pros at PPG are that you build a close bond and relationship with the guys you work with. I’ve met some of my best friends there. You also start to build a great bond with the customers/contractors there too.

Cons

Now....this is not a bash but the honest truth. Management inside the store sucks...it really sucks. There are some good ones out there, but there are more bad ones that lie and will throw their employees under the bus just to cover themselves and that’s not right at all. I was a former employee and my manager refuse to train me so that I could get to the next level. He pretty much held me back from moving up so I had to learn a lot on my own. PPG is a company that doesn’t take care of there hard working employees and I mean hard working. They give you a lot of empty promises and will promote someone who just came in the business instead of someone who has been with the company for years. That’s really messed up. Management will say you up next and then “boom”...you were lied to. The pay wasn’t good at all. I believe that hard work is appreciated and to my honest opinion....they don’t. You had people receiving 10 cent raises. People that have worked their butts off and got 10 cent raises . That’s a tough pill to swallow know you get that kinda raise and you put so much sweat and hard work into your job. Most of the good people that worked there left and that’s the reason why...they were not appreciated at all.

Pros

-Competitive pay -Awesome insurance options (Aetna and BlueShield) -Competitive 401(k) or IRA contribution matches (up to 6%) -Streamlined support lines, employee benefit enrollment, online paystubs, etc.

Cons

-Hard to move up without the hard years of experience and/or acknowledgement from your boss and your bosses boss -Physically hard at first if you are used to a sedentary lifestyle since the job involves plenty of lifting, warehousing and customer service (carrying paint for customers, mixing the paint quickly so that you can serve the next customer in a timely manner, etc.) -The current computer system sucks hard, and is not straightforward or intuitive in any way. Takes time to learn -The phone system sucks and you learn quickly that with no caller ID, you need to be good at taking notes about orders, questions, comments, etc.
