Just putting in their time

Pros

Work life balance. Low stress. Located in beautiful Newark, NJ where the murder rate has been decreasing over time.

Cons

Too many long-term employees just putting in time until they get their pension. Bar isn't set very high. Innovation dies on the table because nobody wants to take a chance and get blamed for any failure. Bunch of finger pointers; especially at the higher levels.

Pros

A good day is when I have a productive day at work. I complete all my duties for the day and also spend time with my coworkers and learn something new about them. Diversity is very important and when there are more opinions, a smart decision can be made.

Cons

Not much room for advancement for people with finance backgrounds though.

Pros

- Great benefits for families - Has both 401k and cash balance pension plans; 401k has generous company match - Is ramping up more volunteer opportunities and tooting its horn about them - Stock is doing very well - If you like being with a department that takes forever to make decisions, this is it.

Cons

- HR group is small and overloaded with work; work/life balance is challenging - need to set boundaries/ expectations with mgmt and employees; people come into work sick with the flu, esp. managers as they feel penalized if they don't - Promotional opportunities are limited - Diversity is paid lip service only - Be sure you're ok with having a tiny workspace and lots of conversations going around you on the floor - If you want another job internally, make sure you can handle that one and the one you left b/c they will hound you on both
