Honestly, there is little to recommend it

Pros

-The chance to do analytical chemistry in a structured way. -Vacation accrual is a little better than some other places, but good luck finding a good time to use it, since the busy season is in the warm weather months.

Cons

- Low-ball pay - Standard, but expensive benefits. - The combination of strict regulations and rush due dates makes for a very stressful job. - Non-existent training turns the stress up to 11 for new hires. - Too many people sharing too few tools, and a general lack of private work space. - After a recent merger with another lab, it seems like everyone at my location has some kind of axe to grind. - The employees are a mixed bag of noobs, transfers and old-timers. As with most workplaces, the people who have been there the longest are the least friendly and approachable.

Pros

Working at Pace Analytical is challenging and rewarding because your every day tasks are not defined for you. Your goals are defined, but it is up to you to find the best way to meet the customer needs. This means working with your co-workers, Corporate and other divisions to develop ethical, efficient, cost-effective and scientific solutions for the customer.

Cons

Environmental testing is a cost-competitive business, so a lot of decisions are made regarding reducing costs internally, so the solutions for the customer can be market-competitive. This can be frustrating when you want to try something new and the money just isn't available. Management is usually pretty good about listening to employees though and making investments that will benefit the company overall.
