Pros

I enjoy the people I work with and the opportunities I have been given over the years for advancement. My schedule is good and the pay is decent. I really like meeting new clients and helping identifying ways I can help them meet their needs while continuing to develop solid relatinoships with our existing customers.

Cons

Some people complain and can bring morale of the group down. Micromanagers can also be a drag.

Work to the Bone

Pros

There is some flexibility with the hours, scheduling vacation time, and even allowing you to make up hours on occasion.

Cons

I worked at Pace just under two years, it was my first job right out of school. After a few months on the job I began to see that I made a mistake in taking the job. They tend to hire people right out of school, a few years out with little to no experience, or those who are desperate for a job so that they can get away with paying a lower salary, especially with the chemicals that you are exposed to. They would also take advantage of this fact and give you a high quantity of work. Do not expect to get much of a bonus (if you get one) or even advance within the company or even to another department. It is not worth being a starter job because when you try to apply for a similar position at another company they will want to start you off in a lower position or entry level. My supervisor was very unprofessional. She would talk openly about other employees, I once even overheard her talking about me, and when I confronted her about it she did not even deny that she did. She even yelled and threw a tantrum with a worker in front of other coworkers and another manager and was not confronted or reprimanded. One of the Core Values of the Company is to value the employee. This is merely to save face. If you ever told in the staff meetings that it is mandatory you have to take a certain amount of days off within a certain time span, layoffs are coming. This is what happened to me, I'd scheduled my days off for the following week. That Friday not even halfway through the day I was given my walking papers.

Pros

Flexible scheduling. I worked with a fun group of people (which was critical,as the work was miserable).

Cons

I don't know if every location is the same, but I worked in the Billings, MT lab. There was no real on the job training plan in place, though there was an entire series of fairly worthless internet training that Pace wants its employees to take (which really just interrupts getting meaningful tasks accomplished). The Billings lab has been through a long series of name changes with no real improvements made to the equipment or facilities. Things broke down at an alarming rate, and there was very little outside support to correct those problems. Software was very glitchy, so a good deal of my time was spent attempting to correct glitches. For a variety of reasons (not good reasons, mind you) I we printed out several reams of paper each day. A good deal of that paper went straight into the trash. If they were to do a good analysis of their processes, it would save the company a lot of resources & $. Maybe then they could take better care of their employees. Wages were poor; cost of health benefits was unreasonable.
