Pros

Ideal system experience for industry. High emphasis on diversity. Good workforce cohesion. Job security. Non-union.

Cons

Below average pay for the same position at area companies. This is a utility that is run like an insurance company. Information is very compartmentalized. To cut costs staffing is set to a bare minimum. Some of the worst deferred maintenance in the industry. Very high turnover rate company wide. There is no training department with trainers that have operator experience.

Electric utility is a Recession Proof industry

Cons

Tight budgets, understaffed, increasing environmental scrutiny puts pressure on upper management to reduce costs which usually involves reducing staffing levels while work load goes up.
