Great stepping stone into the utility industry. Good work life balance.

Cons

Pay is the lowest in the area. Focus more on seniority then on results. The management has no say. HR makes all decisions. The only thing this company wants you to learn is how to be safe on the job, and want people to be stagnant. I have been here for 5 years and instead of promoting a woman that is more then experienced on the team, they hired a man outside of the company that wasn't qualified. The glass celing is so apparent that I hit my head on it daily. The benefits are mediocre.

Stable work during a major recession.

Cons

PacifiCorp is run by an old boys and girls club of bullies and back stabbers. The bullies fight innovation and attack anyone who takes ownership and works in a more modern efficient manner. HR and management are both on the side of the bullies, Both contractors and FTE's have had to go into therapy because of the often toxic work environment. When an employee is forced out of the company by a bully, she mysteriously can not get interviews with engineering companies that do contract work for PaciifCorp. That is because a high-level engineering manager bad mouths her to the other companies. Working for PacifiCorp can damage your mental health and hurt your career.
