Pros

Good company benefits along with competitive compensation

Cons

There was a disconnect with executive management and middle management and projects were often micro-managed. Went all in with the Six-Sigma paradigm to much dismay

Transition to a sale

Pros

Bright people, global exposure, technically competent. The broad based markets they're involved with give you a window into many industrial areas.

Cons

The new mgt would seem to be prepping the business for a sale. Selling off divisions and shifting operation. After Millipore was sold to German Merck, it can't be too long before Pall's sold too.

Not a place for career development

Pros

Various products and many smart and technical people working around. Stock purchase plan is OK. Winter shutdown is a good time for Christmas season.

Cons

Too many directors/VPs/SVPs, way more than any big companies I worked. Old management team from Dr. Pall's time is extincting, many of current middle/high level managers are excellent masters of office politics learned from their previous employers, however have limited knowledge about techniques that Pall need. There are lots of turnarounds in administrative and technical departments in these years; people in Pall now gets used to hear the leave of respectable senior employee every few weeks; and some senior employees were just laid off after a short project discussion or argument at a meeting if it did not make upper level managers happy, and left a large team/project unattended. The working environment becomes somewhat hostile; no smooth communication and friendly assist can be easily found around, people have their territory. Complains can be often heard from new hires, many new employees work only for living, no mood for career development, and they keep seeking other opportunities.
