Advice for the new Company (post Danaher)

Pros

Good benefits and pay Great people at the plant level. All the mechanisms are in place to be an ethical company - hotline, ethics officer, etc., but (see below).

Cons

The Corporate culture is toxic. Ethics office is reactive rather than proactive. Focuses on individual complaints rather than systemic issues. Blame culture that creates fear and intimidation. Creates a foxhole mentality where people keep their ends low and away from the line of fire. Highly political and ruthless management beyond the plant level. Top leaders are arrogant, self serving and completely unsupportive . Local management held very accountable without authority. They are often the fall guys. Unethical hiring practices in that Pall allow leadership to hire people without disclosing the full nature of the endeavor they are signing up for. Significant business changes that significantly affect the scope of the position are not disclosed until after hire on the first few days on the job. Corporate and regional oversight stifles creativity and diversity of thought. Reviews of rests are plentiful. Expectations are often vague and results are second guessed after the fact. Strategic direction does not filters down, leaving people at the plant level to assume there is no strategic plan.

Was a good company to work for

Pros

Decent benefits and time off. Friendly co-workers for the most part. Typical manufacturing / office / lab culture. Work assignments varied and diverse.

Cons

Regular downsizing/layoffs hurting manufacturing support structure. No real promotions or advancement, mostly lateral moves and being asked to take on more responsibilities. Little management support or accountability for employees on assigned projects. Annual performance reviews with an average 1% salary increase discouraging. There is a fair amount of cronyism, especially in middle/upper management. At times frustrating and stressful environment. Bottom line: on time delivery numbers rule the day. Outlook suspect with latest acquisition by another company.
