Good job, good people, poor pay
Pros
While at Pall I had the opportunity to see almost every aspect of the company and take on new responsibilities within my department. I was recognized for getting things done and I was promoted during my time here, and I think it is great that effort is recognized by the company. The team I worked with was top notch. Everyone was very intelligent and were absolutely experts at their jobs. My direct reports were motivated, worked hard, and were great people. My boss gave me the latitude to do my job how I saw fit, which was really refreshing. I was allowed to implement my ideas for how I thought the department should be run and I enjoyed the challenge of building a more efficient and effective department.
Cons
By far and away the biggest downside to working at Pall is the pay. For my position, the rate of pay was objectively in the bottom 10% of the market for the position, regardless of where or what data source was used to benchmark against. Knowing you're not being paid what your position is worth is tremendously demotivating and weighs on you every day. Further, researching what my direct reports were paid showed that they were also not paid market rates, with one glaring example of a high performer on my team being paid in the bottom 5% of the market for the position. My suggestions for a market adjustment didn't go anywhere, which was also discouraging.
