Short-sighted decisions

Pros

Interesting projects that have big, tangible impact upon application. Many excellent scientists with creative ideas who are excited to talk about their work and new potential work.

Cons

Leadership's reluctance to pull the trigger on facility investment means we are behind on production of existing products, and even more behind on piloting and launching new products. Further, they are asking for increasing numbers of projects from the same or fewer people (because people leave) and then seem surprised when there are resource gaps or they're asked to make a decision on what to prioritize. Though day to day frustration comes from R&D leadership, their decisions are made under the limitations of the short-sightedness and lack of technical understanding of overall company leadership.
