Pros

I took full advantage of the employee discount. It was well worth it, as my main meal of the day cost at most $4. My store also allowed employees to take home unsold bakery items at the end of the night, so that became my breakfast most days while getting through college.

Cons

Two of my managers worked 40+ hours/ week while pregnant almost up until they were due. This didn't seem fair, and I could tell they were struggling. Management was understaffed in general, so it was not unusual to have interim managers brought in from other locations.

Pros

I worked at 2 different stores as both a cashier and line worker (food prep) during my time with the company. Both had pretty great management and teams to work with, though obviously that only counts for the locations that I worked at. You got a pretty decent employee discount on food; 50% off your order. If you closed, you could take home as many baked goods as you wanted, although that rule was changed right as I quit. Still, most managers let you take things home if you wanted. Scheduling is also very flexible, great for college students.

Cons

The work was VERY hard. I worked only part-time and ALWAYS felt like I needed a nap when I came home. This is because of how fast we had to work to keep up with all the orders, since Panera is very popular. In all honesty, I rarely felt that the amount of money I earned each hour was what I should have been earning considering the work I put in. Customers often were quite entitled and could be very rude if you got their order a tiny bit wrong.
