Pros

Paneara has a well respected training program recognized through out the restaurant business. It's a good place to start if you have relatively little experience. Panera does give you some opportunities for growth. It also is a challenging environment to work in.

Cons

Low salary, and small increases lead to a lack of incentive among associates and managers alike. Lack of support from upper management in decision making and growth opportunities is also downside.

It's the service industry, after all.

Pros

If you're a closer, you get free food. If you're not a closer, you at least get cheap food.

Cons

You get no respect whatsoever, and there is little motivation to do a good job because you're expendable and will not be rewarded. You will, however, be berated no matter what you do. Panera Corporate has impossible standards (although this doesn't really differ from any other corporate job I've been in or heard about).

Pros

good food nice enviroment some nice customers

Cons

I have been working at my panera bread since August of 2008 ( iwas 16 and now 18) I knew the manager well so i got the job but still had to do an interview etc. I have yet been trained on the line where all the food is made and sent to customers. I have some people beat by 6 months who are trained on everything and are an associate trainer. I have not been asked at all and when i did a few months ago i got blown off by my manager who i have known for several years. The work is tedious and its the same thing or how we need to improve our work and ticket times. I do appreciate the fact i have a job and im only 18 but i just feel like im getting nowhere with my job while another employee was sent to training right after he turned 18 and he has been there 6 months longer then me.. but still..
