Pros

Location of this office is great, your co workers in the building are extremely friendly (besides upper management).

Cons

Most of the management in IT is lacking (not too mention senior management runs their department by means of physical intimidation), there is no recognition for the work you do besides 5-10 employees out of 10,000-15,000 world wide that are selected each quarter! Department meetings state compensation is inline with region standards but this is completely false. It's unfortunate because there just seems to be a severe lack of support within IT, other departments within PAREXEL are rewarded when appropriate. You would think for a medical company they would have amazing health benefits, NOPE! Lastly, don't even think about being able to telecommute unless you are a CRA!

Overworked, underappreciated

Pros

Flexible work hours. Can work from home on occasion. Senior staff seem to be allowed to make own hours and work from home on regular basis.

Cons

The workload is ridiculous. The company takes on more contracts than they have manpower for. The expectations for new employees who have no experience in this field are beyond unreasonable. It is a sink or swim environment. They assume if you are intelligent (based on your resume) you can figure everything out for yourself. This is all well and good except there are deadlines, angry clients, etc. and you don't really have the luxury of time. I essentially received no training. If you are intelligent and hardworking you will pick it up eventually, but be prepared to suffer the anxiety for about a year on your own. To top it all off, the pay is insultingly low. If you are right out of college, you will get good experience, but it will come at a price - your sanity. Stay long enough to learn what you can, then get out.

Pros

semi casual dress code, good benefits, requires no intelligence (i.e. coming in hungover can still = a productive day)...actually, coming in unconscious could still be productive!

Cons

What a joke this place is. They sell services for huge dollars and pay the worker bees a pittance. The services they sell are usually pretty ad hoc, out dated, and labor intensive ( i.e. INEFFICIENT) on behalf of the employee ( at least in Imaging it is). Overtime is expected without any extra pay or recognition...but you do get crappy, supermarket cake once a month ( the IRA managers really seem to think this is a great benefit! Career development is nil, the experience you gain is barely transferable anywhere else...and dont expect a mentor in your supervisor, odds are, you are more educated than he is) Promotion is ridiculous; basically the biggest butt kisser who is willing to act like a trained monkey that plugs away making .img files all day without complaint or expectation of stimulating work, is the one who is going to get promoted. Rampant favoritism for the ones who arent willing to rock any boats and actually improve the company. But how can you improve the company when most of the supervisors are less educated/intelligent/scientifically and technically knowledgeable than their employees? The funny thing is, the management seems to actually believe that they are providing novel, state of the art services. The pay wouldnt be such an insult if they actually compensated for overtime....since its so expected.
