Pros

Co-workers tend to be very friendly and helpful. They are under the same pressures as you and you learn to support each other. Salary is competitive, especially for a CRO. It is a job if you need one but certainly not a career.

Cons

Upper management is not supportive of their employees; only interested in the company and/or themselves. Do not count on support if things don't go according to plan. Benefits are average for a CRO but not what you will find at a pharma company and the 401(k) is especially disappointing. Resourcing is especially a problem. Projects don't have enough people so quality and timelines suffer but leaders will tell you to "be creative" and find other ways to deliver the project. Frequent organizational changes and layoffs especially in the last 2 years. No obvious career path for most roles. If you want to get ahead you will probably have to quit and work somewhere else.

Pros

Vacation for new employees starts at 3 weeks, that's good.

Cons

it's a boys club. They will tell you there is diversity and inclusion but the bottom line is, middle management is common for women. They also get paid less than me. Would know since some employees make more than I do.
